Artwork requirements

What we accept, the limit we enforce, and — just as importantly — what we do not check automatically.

Accepted formats

PDF, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, up to 50 MB per file. PDF is the safest choice for print, since it can carry vector artwork and multiple pages; the image formats are accepted but are checked pixel by pixel, not page by page.

The format is read from the file’s actual leading bytes, not from its name or the browser’s reported content type. A JPEG renamed to end in .pdf is rejected rather than accepted on the strength of its extension.

Checked automatically

  • The filename is safe to store and display
  • The file is not empty (0 bytes)
  • The file is 50 MB or smaller
  • The real leading bytes of the file match a format we accept — not just its extension
  • Pixel dimensions, read from the header, for PNG, JPEG and TIFF

Not checked automatically

  • Bleed
  • Trim marks
  • Colour profile
  • Ink coverage
  • Embedded fonts
  • Page count
  • Effective print DPI

A person reviews every file before it goes to print. A file that passes the checks above is marked received, never “approved” or “print-ready” — that judgement is a person’s, not the upload form’s.

What if my file is rejected?

An upload is only ever rejected for a concrete, stated reason — the file is empty, it is over 50 MB, its name has no usable extension, or its contents do not match a format we accept. Fix the specific reason given and upload again from the product page or your cart.
